Thinking Christmas?

I know I am jumping past Halloween for this post, but I promise I will get back to the Halloween and Fall posts after this.

I wanted to share with you photos of a class I will be teaching at the Scrapbook store where I work.

This will be my first attempt at teaching so I am very nervous! But I am very excited, too!

My coworkers have been asking me for months that I should teach classes but with my shyness I didn't know if I could do it.

So when I brought in this paper bag album to be a sample for the store, my Boss told me that I would be teaching it as a class at our Holiday Open House on November 21st.

I originally thought I would create a Halloween paper bag album but the Halloween paper didn't arrive as early as the Christmas paper so it was much easier to create a Christmas album instead.

So, I took this Victorian Santa paper line by Bo Bunny called St. Nick and created this paper bag album.

So hopefully I will be able to show these ladies how I create my paper bag albums!

I wish you all could be there with me! I am sure I would not be so nervous if all my friends from blogland were there!

Have a great day, Lindsey

October is Coming...

..... and that means it is time to get out all of the old Halloween supplies and buy new bewitching goodies of course!

Halloween is my favorite Holiday to create layouts for as the paper and embellishments are so whimsical and fun!
At Target in their $1 section at the front they have sets of Halloween paper. Each set contains 6 sheets of paper. They also have about 5 different embellishments to match the paper.
Here is a paper bag album I made using the $1 paper and embelishments.

I really enjoy the process of making these books. 6 x 6 is a great size as you can get four pages out of a 12 x 12 sheet of paper.

Paper: $1.00

stickers: $1.00

cardstock for photo mats: $1.60

paper bag book: $2.00

Filling it with family photos come Halloween: Priceless!

For the last 3 years now, my favorite Halloween paper line has been by Making Memories. I love the softer vintage colors they use. I usually, apart from the Internet, can only find it at Target. I was at Michaels the other day and they had the newest collection! It is not available at every Michaels as we have 3 within driving distance and only 1 has it. But it is really lovely paper! I was able to get the big paper pack of 36 sheets for only $12.99.
Here is a card I made mixing Making Memories Spook Alley paper,October Afternoon paper, and Inkadinkado Clear Stamps.

I love the clear Halloween stamps this year by Inkadinkado. I have two of their sets and have seen a third online. Aren't these little trick or treaters cute?!

When I got home with my new stamp sets I pulled out my coffee dyed tags and black Staz-on ink.

I hope your having a lovely week, Lindsey

My Girl Vintage Paper Bag Album

I loved working with this paper!!! It's called "Vintage Yummy" by Sassafras Lass. This paper describes my style perfectly! Vintage!!!!! Here is a link to Sassafras Lass website if you wish to see the entire collection.

My local Scrapbook store, where I work, carried this line. As soon as I finished this album I took it to the store and it has been displayed there ever since.
The fabric binding is strips of fabric which has been ripped and tied to book rings to give the album a playful look.

My favorite sheet of paper is filled with small frames with beautiful vintage images. White lace border around the photo mat to match the framed pictures in the background.

This album is supposed to be about the life of your daughter so these first two pages are for baby photos.

I enjoyed using bright colors for this album! Orange is not a color I use on anything but Halloween so it was great to be able to use it here.

Tulle is great for scrapbooking. It can be knotted like on this page or gathered and made into a ruffle border.

I used images of little girls from old sewing patterns to match the albums style.

These girls are from a vintage children's book.

I have used foam dots which are available at any craft store to give the small frames dimension.

An added tag gave more detail to my album.

Another lovely girl from a sewing pattern. The polka dot paper is called "Dotted Swiss" by Bazzill.

Stapling fabric to your pages is a great way to avoid the mess of regular glue.

A vintage gold buckle gives a great touch to finish off the album.

On the back cover I have used Prima's Pearl swirls for an added whimsy!

A close up of the fabric strips.

Thank you for looking at my album!

Paper Bag Album

I first heard of Paper Bag Albums from my Mother who saw them on ebay. I loved that you could make something so beautiful from just paper bags! We went out the next day and bought a package of paper bags. The bags we had weren't quite what I wanted though and I gave up trying to make one. Then we happened upon an ebay seller who sells lots of blank paper bag albums. Her name is Shmizz and her ebay store is Scrapbook Supply Outlet.

We love the quality that she puts into her bags and I would never buy them from anyone else.
She irons them out so that the bags will lay flatter. Then she sprays them with archival mist which makes the bags acid free and safe for photos. Next she sews up the middle and punches the holes. You have your choice of 3 or 5 holes. Her paper bag albums come in several different sizes. 6x6 or 8x8 are my favorites to work with.

Here is an album I made a couple years ago using an 8x8 paper bag album. I used Cosmo Cricket's Little Girls paper line.

There are many great ways to bind up the sides of the book. Remember though that the binding of it is just for looks as it already has been sewn up the middle to secure the pages in place. On this album I used strips of fabric. I have also used metal binding rings which you can find at any craft store and then tied strips of ribbon around that. I have also braided ribbon up the binding too. The possibilities are endless!

One of my favorite accents to add are acrylic flourish stamps! They are so pretty and they really add a lot of detail to the book. You can find them at your local Hobby Lobby.

I really love adding flowers to my books and layouts. I know that the flowers at scrapbook stores can be expensive so instead of using those go to a Hobby Lobby or Michaels and look through their floral department. You can find bunches of smaller flowers and then just cut them of the stem and place the on your pages. It's much cheaper and Hobby Lobby usually puts them on sale every couple weeks.

Feel free to click on any pictures to make them bigger!

Thanks for looking at my album! If you would like to make a paper bag album check out Scrapbook Supply Outlet or enter in my upcoming giveaway where I will be including a paper bag album!

Jennifer of For the Love of a Teddy Bear tagged me to share 6 uninteresting things about myself. Let's see, that should be pretty easy!

1. I have to listen to rock music while I scrapbook. Usually fairly loud Rock music. It helps my creativity flow and it really helps me think.

2. I know it's very weird but I like to scrapbook without pictures. I feel so constrained when I use photos that I can only use certain paper that matches or that it has to be arranged on the page a certain way. I like letting the paper tell me how it should be arranged on the page, not how it would look for my photos. It also means that I can use whatever paper I want whether I have photos to match or not. I have started making layouts and albums to sell to try and support my hobby.

3. I have never lived anywhere else other than Springfield, MO and I know I would never want to! It's a great place to live! I am just half an hour away from the Entertainment capitol of the world, Branson, MO. We get Season passes to the amazing Silver Dollar City Amusement Park! It's wonderful!

4. I am the only person in my family that is not afraid of heights. Therefore when we go to Silver Dollar City I don't get to ride any of the rides because I don't want to go by myself and I have no one who will go with me.

5. I love the Japanese anime Kawai style! I love Hello Kitty! I would love to have a scrapbook line dedicated to this style!

6. I love to collect copies of The Wizard of Oz book. I have always loved the different covers and unique illustrations. But I have never actually read the book all the way through. I think I should make that a goal for me that I need to completely read the book this year!

Well thank you for reading these six very uninteresting things about me! Now I must tag six more people to share 6 uninteresting things.

I wish you all a happy week, Lindsey
