Denim and Daisies is having a CT call. CT experience is not necessary, but dedication is a must! Participation in forum, gallery and special events is required! Call is open October 16th - 31st. All positions MUST be filled before the grand opening on October 31st.

Playing with Paper!

I found myself happily working at the scrapbook store today, looking at Basic Grey's Halloween line, called, Eerie. I just stood there looking at this paper thinking, "Wow, I wonder what I could make with you?" I pulled all the racks off the wall and set in the floor looking at the different patterns and colors thinking about the endless possibilities this paper could create. I rearranged the paper and put it back on the wall in order of it's product code number and now I am happy with how it looks and I made room for more new Basic Grey paper that I was getting ready to put out.

I saw a really cute candy box on Basic Grey's online newsletter and decided to create my own for the store to display. Here is how it turned out. I have it up high on a shelf but it is filled the mini candy bars.

I nearly hyperventilated today as I opened up this box of paper to be put out on the shelves.

It's Basic Grey's newest release, Nook & Pantry. A very 40's and 50's kitchen themed line that is so dreamy! It has cupcakes, strawberries,doilies in every color, tea pots and bright fruits!

As I was making room for this paper line I found a lonely little bag hanging alongside packets of brads, as I got closer I discovered it was a Napkin Holder. Needless to say I knew immediately it was perfect for this paper!

Here it is! I have it supported on to hooks on the wall next to the line of paper.

A couple weeks ago I had to do my first product demonstration. I was teaching ladies how to create these beautiful tags! I really wish you could see the shimmer that they have! They are incredible! I don't personally own the tools to create these tags but as soon as I do I will show how to create these on the blog. Thinking Christmas?

I know I am jumping past Halloween for this post, but I promise I will get back to the Halloween and Fall posts after this.

I wanted to share with you photos of a class I will be teaching at the Scrapbook store where I work.

This will be my first attempt at teaching so I am very nervous! But I am very excited, too!

My coworkers have been asking me for months that I should teach classes but with my shyness I didn't know if I could do it.

So when I brought in this paper bag album to be a sample for the store, my Boss told me that I would be teaching it as a class at our Holiday Open House on November 21st.

I originally thought I would create a Halloween paper bag album but the Halloween paper didn't arrive as early as the Christmas paper so it was much easier to create a Christmas album instead.

So, I took this Victorian Santa paper line by Bo Bunny called St. Nick and created this paper bag album.

So hopefully I will be able to show these ladies how I create my paper bag albums!

I wish you all could be there with me! I am sure I would not be so nervous if all my friends from blogland were there!

October is Coming...

..... and that means it is time to get out all of the old Halloween supplies and buy new bewitching goodies of course!

Halloween is my favorite Holiday to create layouts for as the paper and embellishments are so whimsical and fun!
At Target in their $1 section at the front they have sets of Halloween paper. Each set contains 6 sheets of paper. They also have about 5 different embellishments to match the paper.

Here is a paper bag album I made using the $1 paper and embelishments.

I really enjoy the process of making these books. 6 x 6 is a great size as you can get four pages out of a 12 x 12 sheet of paper.

Filling it with family photos come Halloween: Priceless!

For the last 3 years now, my favorite Halloween paper line has been by Making Memories. I love the softer vintage colors they use. I usually, apart from the Internet, can only find it at Target. I was at Michaels the other day and they had the newest collection! It is not available at every Michaels as we have 3 within driving distance and only 1 has it. But it is really lovely paper! I was able to get the big paper pack of 36 sheets for only $12.99.

Here is a card I made mixing Making Memories Spook Alley paper,October Afternoon paper, and Inkadinkado Clear Stamps.

I love the clear Halloween stamps this year by Inkadinkado. I have two of their sets and have seen a third online. Aren't these little trick or treaters cute?!

When I got home with my new stamp sets I pulled out my coffee dyed tags and black Staz-on ink.

Here is today's sketch for Caarvarks sketchfest. This sketch was also created by the talented Heidi Van Laar!

Here is my take on the sketch. Sorry for the off coloring of the picture. It has been VERY dark and dreary here these past few days.

I mixed Basic Grey, Cosmo Cricket and Coredinations cardstock to create this card. I then added Kaiser Craft pink pearls, prima and Making Memories flowers, and Bo Bunny ribbon.

I made a sample for the store using Pink Paislee's new Amber Road collection. It has been really popular and selling out fast! I cut the leaves using the Storybook cartridge on my Cricut.
